A Bit of History of the Skylarks

Somewhere before 1957, a small group of airport bums at Fullerton decided to fly out someplace in top hats, tux-type flight suits and canes. Did you wonder why the bird in our logo is dressed like that? The flight suit cost $13.95 and the hats $1.50! Well, they had so much fun they decided to form a club and do this more often. There were twenty-three charter members. One of the wives suggested that a bird called a skylark would be a nice name and -viola!-an entity was born and has bveen in continuous existence ever since.

One of those original members was a character named Charlie Thomas who undertook the newsletter from its inception to 1969. He typed every word, ran the copies off on a drum-type monster machine called a Gestetner, and mailed them out. He claimed that it took a bottle of Scotch per issue .---Jeanne Day
